Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Manager of Data Engineering to lead a team of data engineers and analysts responsible for a data lake architecture, ingestion, processing, and consumption. You will shape the long-term roadmap, drive cross-functional collaboration, and ensure scalable, reliable data pipelines.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years building data solutions in cloud environments, strong leadership, and deep Python/SQL skills, with experience in AWS and modern data tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years building data solutions in cloud environments; 2+ years leading teams.
• Strong Python/SQL and ability to review designs and guide technical decisions.
• Experience with modern data stack, ETL/ELT, data observability, and cataloging.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a data engineering team including hiring and performance management.
• Own the long-term roadmap for the data platform and prioritize initiatives across the business.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to translate needs into technical deliverables.
• Oversee data pipelines across streaming and batch data sources with reliability and quality.
• Set on-call processes and ensure production data workloads have monitoring and incident response.
• Contribute hands-on when needed to review code and prototype solutions.
• Advocate for the team's work and drive technical excellence across the company.
