Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer for the Data & Performance Enablement team in Maryland. You will design and implement platforms that manage distributed event streaming technologies at CVS Health, owning features for database, messaging, and data warehouse platforms.

You will mentor engineers and influence the technical roadmap. You will design automation for provisioning, backups, and user management, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive improvements in data streaming

Qualifications

• 5+ years of applicable experience.
• Strong experience with messaging platforms (Kafka/Redis).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Proficient in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python).
• Solid experience with at least one major cloud provider (Azure or AWS).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain key components of our data platform automation for provisioning, backups, and user management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance and reliability issues in our data systems, often serving as an escalation point for the team.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve data streaming services, security, scalability, and automation.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support the team's critical services.
• Mentor junior engineers on database administration, query optimization, and DBRE principles.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap by researching new data technologies and proposing innovative solutions.
