Job summary

INEOS Energy in Denver is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to own data models and analytics solutions. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable models using dbt, SQL, Python, and the modern data stack, collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into reliable data assets.

The ideal candidate has deep data modeling and governance expertise, with experience in Snowflake and Azure, and will manage CI/CD pipelines to production with robust testing and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related role, with a focus on upstream oil and gas.
• Proven experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, and common data transformation tools.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, data engineering processes, data governance, and development best practices.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust data models to support analytics, research, and AI workloads.
• Build and maintain dbt models with testing, documentation, and version control.
• Integrate telemetry and SCADA data, handling time-series characteristics and data quality.
• Write and optimize complex SQL transformations for reporting and analytics.
• Create semantic layers with certified metrics and clear lineage for stakeholders and AI agents.
• Own orchestration and CI/CD pipelines, defining dependencies and automated deployments.
• Champion data testing, monitoring, and alerting to surface issues early.
