Job summary

Paxos is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to own Snowflake account management, security, and data governance through Terraform-based IaC. You will design modules for roles, access controls, masking policies, data classification, and resource provisioning in a regulated fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering or data platform roles.
• Deep Snowflake administration including RBAC, warehouses, masking policies, governance tags, network policies, storage integrations, and Snowpipe.
• Production Terraform experience with module development, state management, and import workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Terraform modules for Snowflake account management (roles, warehouses, databases, grants, integrations).
• Implement and manage RBAC, data governance tags, and dynamic masking policies in Snowflake via IaC.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake infra changes using GitHub Actions.
• Manage Snowflake security configurations including network policies, service accounts, and identity provider integrations.
• Optimize Snowflake resource utilization, warehouse performance, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to define and enforce data governance policies and data classification standards.
• Build monitoring and alerting for infra drift detection and compliance.
• Contribute to data lake architecture improvements, including Iceberg/open table format adoption.

About the role

We are looking for a Data Platform Engineer to focus on Snowflake account management, security, and data governance through Infrastructure as Code. You will own the Terraform-based management of our Snowflake environment — designing and maintaining modules that govern roles, access controls, masking policies, data classification, and resource provisioning. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep Snowflake administration expertise with strong Terraform skills and a passion for building well-governed, automated data infrastructure in a regulated financial services environment.

What you’ll do

About you

Your experience should include:

Required:

• 8+ years in data engineering or data platform roles
• Deep Snowflake administration experience, including RBAC, warehouses, masking policies, governance tags, network policies, storage integrations, and Snowpipe
• Production Terraform experience with module development, state management, and import workflows
• Terragrunt for multi-environment infrastructure management
• Python proficiency
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance best practices
• Active use of AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, Cursor) in your engineering workflow — we expect this person to leverage AI as a productivity multiplier

Nice to have:

• Experience with the Snowflake Terraform provider snowflakedb/snowflake)
• AWS infrastructure (S3, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager)
• GitHub Actions CI/CD pipeline development
• Apache Iceberg or open table format experience
• Data governance and compliance in regulated industries (fintech, banking, payments)
• dbt, Dagster, or similar transformation and orchestration tools
