Job summary

CG Infinity is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to lead architecture, design, and delivery of modern data platforms for client engagements. This hands-on leader will guide teams from discovery through implementation, balancing executive discussions with technical delivery.

The role requires deep data-engineering expertise and strong consulting instincts to translate business goals into scalable solutions and roadmaps, while mentoring high-performing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of progressive data engineering experience.
• 3+ years in technical leadership roles such as lead engineer or principal engineer.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale data platforms and data integration solutions.
• Strong SQL and at least one modern programming language (Python, Scala, Java, or C#).
• Experience with ETL/ELT design, data pipelines, and orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Fabric, Synapse, BigQuery, Redshift).
• Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, Dagster, Prefect).
• Knowledge of distributed data-processing technologies (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop).
• Experience designing both batch and streaming solutions.
• Strong data modeling, lakehouse, and data warehouse principles.
• Experience implementing data quality, governance, and security controls.
• Familiarity with DevOps/DataOps practices and IaC.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture and delivery for data engineering, platforms, and analytics for client engagements.
• Serve as trusted technical advisor to technology/data leaders and business partners.
• Facilitate discovery sessions, architecture reviews, and solution-design discussions.
• Translate business goals into scalable data strategies, roadmaps, and reference architectures.
• Define scalable, secure architectures for ingestion, storage, governance, and analytics.
• Stay hands-on with pipelines, code reviews, and proof-of-concepts.
• Architect and implement batch, streaming, and event-driven data solutions.
• Present technical recommendations and roadmaps to technical and executive audiences.
• Mentor senior to junior data engineers and guide cross-functional delivery teams.
