Job summary

Boston Dynamics is seeking a First Shift Supervisor for the Data Operations team on the Atlas Robot. You will supervise data ops associates, coordinate ML annotation tasks, teleoperation, and data asset building from 6:30am - 3pm on weekdays.

You will develop onboarding programs, track KPIs, and ensure safety and operational excellence while partnering with ML researchers and engineers to meet data requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching or managing individuals in professional environments such as retail, construction, manufacturing, or logistics.
• Data analysis skills, KPI review, dashboards, and constructing spreadsheets.
• Strong written and verbal communication; emails, chat, Jira, slide decks, and documents are part of workflow.
• Demonstrated history of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Ideal candidates will have exposure to robotics, VR, and/or networking/IT technology.
• Experience with Google Workspace, Jira, and other tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contractors and internal employees responsible for ML annotation tasks, robot teleoperation, and building data assets.
• Establish onboarding and training documentation through structured programs and on-the-floor coaching.
• Develop and track KPIs for data quality, efficiency, and failure causes.
• Interface directly with ML researchers and engineers to understand data requirements.
• Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the data pipeline and collaborate on improvements.
• Track and manage the budget for the data operations team.
• Plan shift assignments based on data demand and personnel and equipment availability.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Build and maintain physical space in cooperation with facilities and IT.
• Analyze and report shift performance to stakeholders.
• Develop and deploy new SOPs as needed.
• Trial new software, hardware, or processes.
