Job summary

Smart City Networks is seeking a Data Operations Professional to manage the data network infrastructure for events and venues, ensuring reliable connectivity and secure operations. • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, IT, or related field.
• 1–3 years in data networking, configuration, installation, administration, or maintenance.
• Certifications (Preferred): CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, Network+ or Security+.

• Collaborate with Operations/General Manager to prioritize show installations.

About the Role

As a Data Operations Professional, you will play a vital role in managing the technical infrastructure that keeps events and venues connected. You’ll be responsible for overseeing data network operations, ensuring reliable connectivity, and leading on-site teams in planning and installation efforts. Your expertise in network technologies will enable seamless execution of events and permanent tenant services.

This is a hands-on technical role that requires a deep understanding of data networking, equipment management, and customer collaboration.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the day-to-day management and configuration of data network equipment and services
• Work closely with the Operations Manager or General Manager to prioritize tasks for show installations
• Engage directly with show management to develop custom networking solutions tailored to event needs
• Oversee equipment inventory, asset management, and maintenance at assigned facilities
• Supervise on-site crews during installation, setup, and troubleshooting
• Attend pre-conference meetings to coordinate technical requirements with clients
• Support facility network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security
• Monitor and resolve network connectivity issues efficiently and professionally
• Ensure fiber and copper network integrity, troubleshoot issues, and design Layer 2 networks
• Maintain Cisco network equipment, including configuration and troubleshooting
• Assist in Wi-Fi network troubleshooting and optimization
• Provide technical leadership and training to team members
• Perform additional duties as assigned

What You Bring

• 1–3 years of experience in data networking, configuration, installation, administration, or maintenance
• 1–2 years of supervisory experience, preferably in event services or telecom
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong knowledge of physical data networks, including fiber and copper terminations
• Proficiency in Cisco technologies (IOS, IOS-XE, Nexus) and network infrastructure
• Experience with Extreme Networks switching and wireless products (preferred)
• Ability to troubleshoot Layer 1, Layer 2, and limited Layer 3 networking
• Familiarity with 11 Wi-Fi networks and troubleshooting methods
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to work with clients, vendors, and venue staff
• Certifications (Preferred): CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, Network+, Security+
