Job summary

Thinking Machines Lab Inc. in San Francisco is seeking a Data Operations professional to help researchers obtain the data they need to train and evaluate frontier models.

You’ll work directly with researchers to translate open-ended requests into concrete plans and own data projects from sourcing to delivery. This hands-on role involves coordinating with vendors, reviewing data quality, and building processes that scale.

Qualifications

• Experience owning operational, data, program, or vendor work from start to finish.
• Experience with data vendors ideally in AI or technology.
• Strong problem-solving instincts and a willingness to dig in when there isn’t an obvious answer.
• Comfortable working directly with researchers or technical teams and turning loosely defined needs into action.
• Good judgment about quality and a willingness to inspect the work closely.

Responsibilities

• Understand researchers’ data needs and translate requests into concrete plans.
• Own data projects from sourcing through quality review and delivery.
• Find the best vendors and data sources for different work.
• Build partnerships with data vendors, including international partners.
• Review data with researchers and vendors to identify quality issues and improve output.
• Build guidelines and tools to make recurring work scalable.
