Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a data-focused professional to develop and automate analytical tools and data workflows that support order management and the bill of materials. You will implement changes within PLM, DMC/MDP, and TSA, partnering with design, engineering, manufacturing, and product support teams to translate requirements into effective software tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, Information Systems (or related field).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with Product Definition, Configuration concepts or HVAC; 3+ years of college in related fields plus 7 years experience may be considered.
  • Preferred experience with PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter or an equivalent PLM tool.
  • Proven intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, parts lists, bills of material, and rule-based logic.
  • Standard logic and mathematical skills.
  • Team-oriented engineering environment.
  • Ability to travel up to ~5%.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and automate analytical tools and data workflows for order management and BOM.
  • Handle configuration management, BOM aspects, and data preparation in PLM systems (MDP/TSA/PLM).
  • Translate engineering and customer requirements into software tools and data products.
  • Improve analytics capabilities, document processes, and troubleshoot data issues.

Where is the work: Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.

This person is responsible for developing and automating analytical tools and data process workflows that support order management and bill of material. This person will execute product changes within our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Product Configuration (DMC/MDP), and Trane sales tools (TSA). This person will partner directly with our design, engineering, manufacturing, and product support teams, so success in this key person requires collaboration with subject matter experts to translate engineering and customer needs into software tools and data products.

Responsible for implementation, maintenance, and audit of configuration management and bill of material aspects. Apply critical thinking to translate design, engineering, product support, and manufacturing requirements into supporting tools. Continuously improve engineering analytics capabilities through improved workflow efficiency, automation, documentation, and enhancements. Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues with data and applications. Desire to maintain and improve documentation. Able to define feature categories, feature codes, validation, nameplate and part picking rules into the Manufacturing Data Preparation Systems (MDP) independently for simple projects.

Understand principles of temporary variable categories (VCAT), how they can be created with validation rules and used as additional information for part picking rules. Understand how to document within TSA/MDP the requirements to feed the factory end of the line tester. Understand how to create or revise bills of materials and what rules are required for each bill. Understands the functionalities of DMC/MDP and begins to gain knowledge to the interface of the field selection tools (TSA) and begin to load predefined data to support TSA changes. Begin to understand the many change control processes within MDP, TSA and PLM system.

Responsible for completion of assignments, can test and verify own data with minimal coaching. Works independently to analyze product documentation changes with coaching from senior staff. Develop and exercise good communication skills. Must be customer driven, innovative and quality minded in performance of all assigned duties. Adheres to all company safety and security policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Typical office environment spending the majority of their time using computers. Accommodations will be evaluated where needed.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, Information Systems (or related field) or equivalent degree.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $65,200.00 - $137,200.00
