Qualifications

Job Description

Classification Title: Data Management Analyst II

Classification Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

The Data Management Analyst II supports the Office of Institutional Planning and Research (OIPR) in the collection, management, analysis, and reporting of university data related to faculty and employees. The position works with academic and administrative units across the University to ensure accurate and timely data collection, develops and maintains applications that support institutional reporting, and contributes to the ongoing modernization of OIPR's data and reporting environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the university-wide Academic Activities Reporting (AAR) process, including coordinating data collection, reviewing and editing submitted information, supporting departmental users, and managing the certification process.
  • Provide training and technical support to departmental staff responsible for submitting academic activity and effort information.
  • Prepare and submit data files supporting Board of Governors instructional and research reporting and federal research effort reporting requirements.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain computer programs and applications that support institutional data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with OIPR colleagues, UFIT technical staff, administrators, and other campus partners to develop data solutions that address institutional reporting and analytical needs.
  • Produce reports and analyses involving faculty and employee characteristics, salaries, advancement, and other institutional topics.
  • Respond to internal and external requests for university information and identify, analyze, and communicate relevant data.
  • Develop, update, and distribute training resources and other materials supporting the effective use of OIPR data and reporting applications.
  • Participate in the design and redesign of application systems as university administrative systems and data requirements evolve.
  • Support OIPR's implementation of the University's transition to Workday, including data and process validation, system conversion activities, stakeholder communication, and workflow improvement.
  • Create and maintain application documentation, database documentation, and data dictionaries to promote consistent and effective use of institutional data.
  • Interpret applicable University, state, and Board of Governors policies and requirements related to institutional data and analytical reporting.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve data collection, reporting processes, and technology solutions.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

Expected Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 annually; commensurate with education and experience.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of relevant experience.
  • Experience conducting research or analysis in a higher education environment, with an interest in education policy and institutional research.
  • Advanced programming and data analysis experience using statistical software such as SAS, R, or SPSS; SQL and database technologies; Python or other scripting languages; and query, reporting, or business intelligence tools.
  • Experience developing data visualizations, dashboards, charts, or other graphical presentations of complex information using tools such as Tableau or Cognos.
  • Experience working with enterprise administrative systems, particularly PeopleSoft and/or Workday.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly and effectively through written reports, presentations, and other formats.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate institutional needs into practical data and technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and technical skills and adapt to evolving administrative systems and reporting requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when working with complex institutional data.
