Job description

Proximie is on a mission to improve healthcare by transforming the world’s operating rooms into connected ecosystems of people, devices, and data.

Our Intelligence Suite transforms operating room (OR) performance, keeping teams in sync and workflows on track to maximise throughput. Simultaneously our computer vision and AI capabilities capture real-time data and detect surgical events – improving quality of data outputs. The result: ORs are optimised like never before – with predictive analytics and automated notifications ensuring patients and staff are in the right place at the right time.

Once practitioners are in the OR, our Surgical Suite enables real-time remote access and creates a secure video record of every procedure; improving training, education, and collaboration. It is an intuitive asset which helps instil a culture of continuous learning, accelerates the adoption of cutting-edge medical devices, and enhances surgical performance across the entire global workforce – improving outcomes and saving lives.

Proximie was commercialised in 2019 and is available in over 500 facilities globally. Check out our Founder and CEONadine’s Origins Story here:https://www.proximie.com/about-us/

Position Overview

With hospitals and health systems around the world increasingly adopting Proximie’s Surgical Suite and Intelligence Suite, we are seeking a skilled and agile Data Integration Engineer to spearhead the integration of our platform with customer Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

This is a pivotal, high-ownership role responsible for driving healthcare data integration across the US. You will be instrumental in enabling scalable, secure, and reliable data exchange between Proximie and its US partners, accelerating clinical insights, enhancing workflows, and delivering operational efficiency at scale.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in healthcare data integration and industry standards (including HL7), with the ability to independently analyze and interpret complex data sets. Success in this position requires exceptional communication skills, technical leadership, and the agility to thrive in a fast-paced, global, and highly collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain HL7 interfaces (ADT, ORU, ORM, etc.) to support real-time and batch data exchange with customer EHR systems.

  • Rapidly stand-up file-based and HL7-based integrations to meet customer onboarding timelines and scalability needs.

  • Develop and manage ETL pipelines for transforming and validating clinical data from diverse sources.

  • Collaborate with customer IT teams to define integration requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure successful deployment.

  • Perform data analysis and validation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of exchanged data.

  • Work closely with internal product, engineering, and customer success teams to align integration efforts with platform capabilities and customer goals.

  • Document integration workflows, data mappings, and technical specifications for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare data integration, preferably with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, etc.).

  • Strong hands-on experience with HL7 v2.x messaging standards and interface engines (e.g., Mirth Connect, Rhapsody, Cloverleaf).

  • Proficiency in ETL tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data transformation and validation.

  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (FHIR, CDA, CCD) and privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR).

  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and troubleshoot integration issues independently.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in customer-facing technical discussions.

  • Experience working in fast-paced, agile environments with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience integrating with cloud-based platforms and APIs is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of surgical workflows and clinical documentation practices is highly desirable.

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with software engineering practices, including version control (e.g. Git), deployment processes, and release workflows — enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams and a smoother path from integration development to production.
