Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Data Governance Leader in Tallahassee to drive enterprise-wide governance policies, ownership structures, and data quality initiatives. You will partner with legal, compliance, and IT teams to ensure regulatory compliance and robust data controls.

The role requires 6+ years in data governance or related fields, with strong knowledge of GDPR/CCPA/HIPAA/SOX/ITAR and ERP systems such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle, or CostPoint. Travel up to 20% may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years in data governance, data management, or related field
• Graduate Degree and 4+ years related experience; or 10+ years in lieu of a degree
• Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOX, ITAR and industry standards (DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM)
• Experience implementing data literacy programs and working with ERP systems such as SAP/PeopleSoft/Oracle/CostPoint

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enforce enterprise-wide data governance policies and standards
• Define data ownership, stewardship, and accountability structures
• Establish and manage data governance councils and working groups
• Ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance
• Monitor data quality, profiling, validation, and issue remediation
• Collaborate with data owners to resolve defects and root causes
• Support master data management, metadata, and reference data controls
• Implement controls for sensitive data handling and access management
• Support audits, risk assessments, and remediation planning
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, cybersecurity, and IT teams on data risks
• Provide training and support to data owners, stewards, and end users
• Maintain documentation of governance frameworks and data lineage
• Research complex issues and translate requirements into governance solutions
• Stay current with data governance trends and regulations
• Travel 10–20% for onsite implementations
