Job summary

Lumen seeks a Senior Lead Data Governance Architect to lead the governance technology program, oversee tooling like Informatica CDGC and Unity Catalog, and drive scalable data governance across a multi‑platform estate.

You will mentor a small team, partner with Data Eng, EA, and InfoSec, and shape implementation patterns, observability, and data quality tooling across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or governance tooling implementation, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
• Hands-on implementation experience with Informatica CDGC or a comparable enterprise catalog, meaning delivery and not only evaluation.
• Experience implementing Databricks Unity Catalog, including catalog hierarchies, role-based access control, and data product registration.
• Experience leading technical delivery for a small team of individual contributors in a complex, multi-platform environment.
• Experience with data quality tooling (Validio, Great Expectations, Soda, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience building automated workflows, scheduled pipelines, and data transformation scripts.

Responsibilities

• Governance Catalog Implementation: Lead the full implementation of the enterprise governance catalog (Informatica Cloud Data Governance & Catalog).
• Implementation Patterns & Technical Leadership: Define the implementation patterns for platform clusters and mentor team members.
• Observability & Data Quality Tooling: Roll out observability tooling and design data quality rule framework.
• Technology Assessment: Lead evaluation work and build test environments for new data tools.
• Identity & Access Integration: Coordinate SailPoint integration design and mapping specifications.
• Phased Delivery Leadership: Lead governance roadmap with Unity Catalog connectivity first, then catalog scanning and data characterization.
• Automation & Workflow Engineering: Build automated metadata ingestion and alert-driven workflows with Python/SQL.
• Technical Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with Data Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and InfoSec to embed tooling across workspaces.
