Job description

Description

Assumption University is accepting resumes for a Database & Enterprise Applications Analyst. Reporting directly to the Enterprise Applications Manager, this position is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the University's SQL Server database environments and provides application and reporting support for the University's enterprise systems, including the Ellucian Colleague ERP.

The Database & Enterprise Applications Analyst ensures the performance, integrity, security, and availability of University databases while supporting the Enterprise Applications team in maintaining and enhancing the systems that serve students, faculty, and staff. In addition to core database administration duties, this position provides day-to-day support for Colleague, plays a significant role in SQL-based report development, and supports the University's rollout of Evisions Argos as a self-service reporting tool for end users. The University is currently on-premises with Ellucian Colleague and is planning a migration to Ellucian's SaaS environment; this position will play a key role in supporting that transition. This position also serves as a member of and technical advisor to the University's Data Governance and Security Committee.

The successful candidate will be a strong technical problem-solver with excellent communication skills, capable of balancing routine database administration with project work, ad hoc reporting requests, and evolving responsibilities in support of Assumption University's mission and values.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain the University's SQL Server database environments, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Ensure database security, integrity, and availability, including managing user access, monitoring for anomalies, and supporting disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Provide technical and functional support for the Ellucian Colleague ERP, including troubleshooting, data maintenance, patching support, and coordination with functional offices.
  • Support the University's planned migration of Ellucian Colleague from on-premises to Ellucian SaaS, including data validation, integration adjustments, and post-migration reporting continuity.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain SQL-based reports, queries, and data extracts for offices across the University; respond to ad hoc reporting and data requests.
  • Support the rollout, administration, and ongoing maintenance of Evisions Argos, including developing DataBlocks and reports and assisting end users in adopting self-service reporting.
  • Serve as a member of and technical advisor to the University's Data Governance and Security Committee, providing expertise on data security, access management, data quality, and the technical feasibility of proposed policies and standards.
  • Implement data governance and security decisions adopted by the committee, including access controls, data classification measures, and related technical safeguards.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Applications staff and campus departments to gather reporting requirements and ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and reporting solutions.
  • Assist with data integrations between Colleague and third-party systems.
  • Participate in projects, system implementations, and upgrades as assigned.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed in support of the Office of Information Technology.
