Job summary

Torc Robotics in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Software Engineer II - Data Engineering to design, build, and operate Linux-based data ingestion, ETL and storage pipelines in AWS. You will work with data, ML and platform teams to scale the data lake, implement Airflow and Step Functions workflows, and deliver cloud-native solutions for analytics, simulation, and model training.

The role includes on-call responsibilities and close collaboration with perception, planning, and control teams to support

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s in CS, Robotics, EE or related field with 4+ years or 0–3 years respectively, as stated.
• Experience deploying, troubleshooting and monitoring Linux systems and cloud workloads.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, vector stores, data warehousing, and distributed data stores.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Linux-based data pipelines and cloud data solutions.
• Ingest, transform, and store data for analytics, simulation, and ML training at scale.
• Create robust, scalable ETL pipelines and data lake growth.
• Ensure data quality, provenance, and governance across platforms.
• Collaborate with perception, planning, control, and mapping teams to deliver data-driven features.
• Participate in on-call rotations to support production systems.
• Contribute to cloud-native design and delivery of scalable solutions.
