Job summary

IDEXX Laboratories, Inc. in Maine is seeking a Manager of Data Engineering to lead a team of Data Engineers across Agile delivery teams while contributing hands-on to data pipeline design and delivery.

You will partner with Product Management, Software Engineering, and Architecture to promote engineering excellence and scalable data solutions. The role focuses on people leadership and hands-on engineering, using AWS, Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, and related cloud-native technologies to deliver

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading technical professionals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and technical decision making.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong planning and prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience designing and supporting operational data pipelines in cloud-native tech.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with AWS data services (S3/SNS/SQS/Lambda).
• Experience with Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, Iceberg, or similar platforms.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and modern software practices.
• Familiarity with Terraform or IaC.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Data Engineers across multiple Agile teams.
• Contribute to solution design, implementation, and delivery as a hands-on team member.
• Partner with Product Management, Architecture, and delivery teams to promote best practices.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure data pipelines and platforms.
• Document architecture decisions and data flows for maintainability.
• Support production operations, incident response, and continuous improvement.
