Job summary

Buildertrend Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineering Intern for the summer in Omaha, NE. You will help build ELT/ETL pipelines from sources like SQL Server and Salesforce, and write SQL to transform data for BI, analytics, and ML use cases.

You’ll learn our modern data stack (Databricks, dbt) and contribute to data quality initiatives while collaborating with data engineers and analysts. This onsite internship emphasizes hands-on practice and learning by doing.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science or data science.
• Available to work full-time onsite at Buildertrend HQ in Omaha, NE for the full summer.
• Interest in data engineering, ETL/ELT, and data readiness for BI/analytics/ML.
• Familiarity with SQL and at least one language such as Python.
• Curiosity about Databricks and dbt; open to learning on the job.
• Experience using AI tools in coursework or projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Help build and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines from sources like SQL Server and Salesforce.
• Write SQL to transform and model data for BI, analytics and ML use cases.
• Partner with Data Engineers and Analysts to define dataset requirements.
• Learn Databricks, dbt, and a medallion data approach with mentorship.
• Write data quality and freshness checks and document definitions.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding while ensuring quality.
• Complete tasks within established sprint timelines.
