Job summary

AbbVie’s BTS Information Research group seeks an Engineer, Technology I to build AI-ready data products within ARCH, AbbVie’s R&D convergence hub. You will design data pipelines, ingest data from diverse sources, and deliver governed datasets for analytics, ML, and AI-enabled use cases across R&D.

You will collaborate with data scientists, platform teams, and owners to translate requirements into dependable data solutions, while adhering to governance and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Data Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, Life Sciences, or a related field plus 4 years of experience.
• Master’s Degree plus 2 years of experience.
• Practical experience developing data pipelines or data solutions using SQL, Python, and ETL/ELT patterns, with knowledge of workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Theoretical and practical knowledge of data integration, data modeling, data storage, and modern data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Independently design and develop data pipelines and curated data assets for assigned scientific or business use cases.
• Collect, integrate, normalize, model, and transform data from databases, applications, APIs, and other systems.
• Clean, standardize, enrich, and structure data for analytics, ML, RAG, and knowledge graphs.
• Maintain data quality checks and documentation including metadata and lineage.
• Communicate progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders and collaborate with partners.
• Monitor pipelines for performance, freshness, and failures; improve patterns and automation.
