Job summary

The University of Utah's University Analytics & Institutional Reporting (UAIR) office leads a team of data professionals turning complex university data into trusted information for leadership and regulatory reporting. We seek an experienced data architect/engineer to design, build, test, implement, and maintain data transformation pipelines and data models with care for quality.

The role requires residence in Utah and campus work 3 days per week in a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience or Master’s with 4 years in institutional research, analytics, data science or related field.
• Proficiency in querying, manipulating and analyzing complex datasets.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for presenting data to diverse audiences.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and SQL.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with APIs.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Research source data structures, relationships, content and quality; support requirements discovery.
• Design, build, implement, and maintain data transformation pipelines and reporting structures.
• Automate data quality audits and corrections.
• Write complex SQL queries to support analytics needs.
• Develop data/process documentation including data flows and definitions.
• Share knowledge and grow with the team; explore new ideas and tools.
• Other duties as assigned.
