Job summary

University of Utah is seeking an experienced Data Architect to design, build, test, implement and maintain data transformation pipelines at the UAIR office in Salt Lake City. This role supports strategic reporting and enterprise data systems with a hybrid work arrangement requiring three days on campus.

The candidate will handle data models, data wrangling, and data quality while collaborating across teams and adopting new tools. Strong SQL, Python, and visualization experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field with 4+ years (or 2+ years for Master’s) of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in querying, manipulating and analyzing complex datasets.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for presenting to varied audiences.
• Experience with Tableau and Power BI for data visualization.
• Strong SQL skills and familiarity with data wrangling and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Research source data structures, relationships, content and quality; support discovery.
• Design, build, implement, and maintain data transformation pipelines and reporting structures.
• Automate data quality audits and correction processes.
• Write complex SQL queries to support analytics needs.
• Develop and maintain data flow diagrams, definitions, and process steps.
