Job summary

Vertex Solutions Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer with P&C insurance domain experience for a hybrid role in NYC (3 days on site). The candidate will own data and analytics pipelines, transform policy, claims and actuarial data, and partner with SMEs to implement complex rules.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in data engineering, strong SQL Server development, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Python/PySpark, and CI/CD in data environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data and analytics engineering experience with P&C insurance data (policy, premium, claims, losses, reserves).
• Strong SQL Server development: complex T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query tuning on large datasets.
• Hands-on with Azure Synapse Analytics, Power BI semantic layer/SSAS, and Azure Data Factory.
• Proficiency in Python/PySpark; DAX experience is a plus.
• Experience with Git, branch management, and CI/CD pipelines in data environments.
• Deep understanding of P&C insurance data (policy administration, claims processing, underwriting, actuarial models).
• Ability to work independently and translate insurance rules into pipeline logic with SMEs.

Contract

Hybrid, 3 days a week in NYC

• 5+ years of data and analytics engineering experience, including hands-on work with property and casualty insurance data (policy, premium, claims, losses, reserves)
• Strong SQL Server development: complex T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, and query tuning against large transactional and reporting datasets
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Power BI Semantic Layer (or SSAS) and Azure Data Factory.
• Proficiency in Python/PySpark. Experience with DAX is a strong plus.
• Experience with Git, branch management, and CI/CD pipelines in a data environment.
• Deep understanding of P&C insurance industry data (e.g., policy administration, claims processing, underwriting, actuarial models, ceded reinsurance).
• Must be able to work independently and also partner with business SMEs to translate insurance rules into pipeline logic
