Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect with overall 8+ years of experience and strong Data Modeling expertise and a proven background in the Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance industry. This role is responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-scale, cloud-native data architectures using Azure technologies while developing robust insurance-specific data models that support underwriting, claims, policy administration, billing, rating, analytics, and regulatory reporting.

The ideal candidate will combine deep Azure architecture expertise with strong data modeling capabilities to build scalable, secure, high-performance, and cost-effective data platforms that enable enterprise analytics, reporting, and business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end enterprise data architectures using Azure-native technologies and services.
  • Develop logical, conceptual, and physical data models that support insurance business functions, including policy administration, claims processing, underwriting, billing, rating, and regulatory reporting.
  • Architect scalable cloud data platforms that support data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, storage, analytics, and reporting workloads.
  • Design and optimize enterprise data pipelines for performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and cost efficiency.
  • Establish and enforce data architecture standards, governance frameworks, security controls, metadata management practices, and data quality standards.
  • Apply distributed data processing principles to large-scale data environments and optimize data platform performance.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, insurance subject matter experts, data engineers, analytics teams, and business intelligence teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Design data integration strategies for insurance source systems, operational applications, and external data providers.
  • Support enterprise analytics, reporting, actuarial analysis, regulatory reporting, and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data models supporting insurance business KPIs and operational reporting requirements.
  • Ensure data solutions comply with governance, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, and mentorship to data engineering, analytics, and data modeling teams.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, architectural approaches, and optimization opportunities to improve platform performance and business value.
  • Drive best practices for cloud architecture, data engineering, data modeling, and analytics platform design.

  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and analytics solutions.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • PySpark
  • Experience defining standards, best practices, and governance frameworks for Databricks and Spark-based workloads.
  • Experience integrating data science, machine learning, and advanced analytics workloads into enterprise data platforms.
  • Experience delivering cloud-based data modernization and analytics initiatives within the insurance industry.
  • Familiarity with insurance source systems, including:
  • Policy Administration Systems
  • Claims Management Systems
  • Rating Engines
  • Experience supporting actuarial, regulatory, financial, and operational reporting initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of cloud cost optimization, performance tuning, and operational efficiency best practices.

Certifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (Preferred)
