Job summary

A leading insurance technology firm is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join the Business Intelligence team. This role focuses on standardizing data, providing insights, and optimizing BI solutions using Power BI, Tableau, and Excel. The ideal candidate has extensive insurance experience and a strong background in data analytics. This position offers a 12-month contract with potential for extensions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Power BI (DAX, Power Query), Tableau, and advanced Excel.
  • 5+ years writing complex T-SQL queries for SQL Server.
  • Experience with Power Automate for data ingestion/processing.

Responsibilities

  • Build and automate recurring and ad-hoc reports to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain and modernize the reporting portfolio for self-service BI.
  • Migrate existing Tableau dashboards into Power BI.

Job description

Location: Remote (Eastern Time Zone Preferred)

Terms: 12 Month Contract + Extensions

Note: This person must be eligible to work in the US on a W2 basis

About the Company: Insure Technology is partnered with a key strategic client in the property and casualty insurance space. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team to help standardize data, curate insights, and design BI solutions that support Underwriting, Accounting, Claims, IT, and Operations. Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence, you will partner with the Sr. Data Engineer to optimize semantic data models in Microsoft Fabric and deliver high‑quality reporting through Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.

Insurance industry experience – ideally in Property & Casualty and/or Excess & Surplus (E&S) lines – is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Build and automate recurring and ad-hoc reports to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Maintain, consolidate, and modernize the reporting portfolio, transitioning the business to self-service BI (Power BI Embedded).
  • Migrate existing Tableau dashboards into Power BI and Excel shared models.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to design dashboards, scorecards, and regulatory reporting outputs.
  • Support data governance by documenting definitions, lineage, and processes in Microsoft Purview.
  • Collaborate with the Data Engineer on ingestion and modeling of new data sources in Microsoft Fabric.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on BI tools, enabling broader data adoption.
  • Uphold best practices in documentation, data quality, and governance.
Qualifications
  • Insurance experience required; P&C and/or E&S strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, BI, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in Power BI (DAX, Power Query), Tableau, and advanced Excel.
  • 5+ years writing complex T-SQL queries for SQL Server.
  • Experience with Power Automate for data ingestion/processing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric architecture (ETL, staging, schema design).
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to translate business needs into BI solutions.
  • Excellent documentation habits and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
