Job summary

Curana Health is seeking a Data Engineer to build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines supporting clinical, operational, and analytical reporting. You’ll work with senior engineers in a fast-paced, regulated healthcare setting, focusing on HL7/FHIR/X12 standards and robust data governance.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in data engineering, strong SQL, and experience with Azure Data Factory and Databricks.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in data engineering or ETL, preferably healthcare.
• Strong SQL and relational DB experience.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, PySpark.
• Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, X12 standards is a plus.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for healthcare data.
• Develop data models and transformations aligned with healthcare standards (HL7/FHIR/X12).
• Contribute to data quality checks, validation rules, and documentation.
• Collaborate with analysts and business users to translate data requirements into technical tasks.
• Ingest new data sources from EMR systems, CMS feeds, and vendor partners.
• Develop SQL queries, transformations, functions, and stored procedures.
• Support data platform tools such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, PySpark, and version control.
• Participate in issue resolution related to data pipeline failures or data quality errors.
• Maintain data dictionaries, mapping files, and data governance documentation.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on security, HIPAA, and architecture best practices.
