Job summary

OneAmerica Financial is seeking a Data Engineer to build and enhance a modern cloud data platform focused on trusted data delivery. The role emphasizes Snowflake, ELT pipelines, dbt, and Medallion Architecture, with collaboration across analytics, product, and business teams.

The ideal candidate will develop maintainable pipelines, investigate data issues, and work with senior engineers to deliver dependable data products in a hybrid Indianapolis setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of data engineering, software engineering, or data development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake or a modern cloud data platform.
• Strong SQL skills including joins, window functions, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering, scripting, or automation.
• Experience building or supporting production ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Experience with dbt or similar transformation framework.
• Understanding of dimensional modeling and modern data architecture.
• Experience integrating data from multiple source systems.
• Familiarity with Git, code review, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable, reliable Snowflake data pipelines.
• Develop and support ELT workflows using dbt and modern tooling.
• Apply Bronze, Silver, Gold Medallion patterns in Medallion Architecture.
• Integrate data from operational systems and third-party platforms.
• Write reusable SQL and Python for data transformation and automation.
• Monitor pipelines, investigate failures, and resolve data quality issues.
• Support Snowflake performance and cost optimization through engineering practices.
• Collaborate with analytics, product, and business teams to deliver trusted datasets.
