Job summary

Peoples Gas System is seeking a Data Engineer to design, maintain, and optimize complex database systems and data models. You will coordinate production data model updates and work with developers, owners and stakeholders to enable data migration and governance.

Responsibilities include data ingestion, performance tuning and documenting processes while supporting data analytics and AI initiatives. This role emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and scalable data architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/Engineering or related field.
• 5 years of relevant work experience, or 2 years as a DBA or Data Engineer.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for data manipulation.
• Experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, SAP HANA or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Azure, AWS or GCP cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain database systems and data models.
• Plan updates to production data models and ensure data governance.
• Collaborate with developers, business owners and stakeholders.
• Perform data ingestion, migration and performance tuning.
• Create documentation and support data analytics initiatives.
