Job summary

Peoples Gas System is hiring a Data Engineer in Florida to design, implement, and maintain large-scale data systems that support analytics and AI initiatives. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and a strong focus on data reliability and governance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of related experience, solid SQL/Python skills, and hands-on work with Oracle, SQL Server, or SAP HANA, plus cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5 years of work experience related to the duties, or 2 years as a DBA or Data Engineer.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, or R for data processing and analytics.
• Experience with database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, or SAP HANA.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms: Azure, Snowflake, GCP, AWS.

Responsibilities

• Perform database-related activities during applications, development projects, and implementations.
• Plan and perform database monitoring and tuning for performance and response time.
• Create, maintain, and optimize data processes, models, and data quality for analytics and AI.
• Plan, coordinate, and deploy data models updates following SDLC and change management.
• Design and implement database backup and recovery strategies and perform restorations as needed.
• Maintain documentation for audit trails and evolving data architectures.
