Job summary

Lexical Intelligence is seeking a Data Engineer / Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable web applications and content management solutions supporting enterprise operations and data distribution.

You will drive back-end development, API integrations, and CMS improvements for cloud-native platforms that support dynamic data workflows, focusing on reliability, maintainability, and clear architecture across the platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline with 5+ years of relevant data engineering experience.
• Strong data integration, lifecycle management, and cloud-based data architecture experience.
• Experience designing data quality frameworks, rules, and observability.
• Experience with large, multi-entity datasets and reconciling disparate sources.
• Ability to deliver data solutions independently while collaborating with a cross-functional engineering team.
• Hands-on experience with data pipelines automation, orchestration, and framework development.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills with attention to detail.
• Proven ability to communicate requirements to engineers, data scientists, and leadership.
• Java proficiency requirement
• Experience developing backend data processing systems on Linux; strong JSON/API familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data quality, validation, and observability frameworks across ingestion and enrichment pipelines.
• Build systems to track data completeness, record counts, and changes over time.
• Support downstream NLP and analytics pipelines with well-structured data.
• Modernize legacy data processing frameworks into reusable platform components.
• Develop APIs and data integration services to expose curated datasets.
• Design and implement data mapping, transformation, and normalization across sources.
• Implement automated data ingestion frameworks, including batch and crawler-based ingestion.
• Monitor, optimize, and instrument data pipelines for performance and reliability.
• Document data lineage, metadata, and data coverage.
• Collaborate with governance and security teams for compliance and to support required authorizations.
