Job summary

AbbVie is hiring a Data Engineer to design and build scalable data pipelines across clinical development initiatives, leveraging cloud-based tools, AI frameworks, and collaborative stakeholder input. You will shape data solutions from modeling to production, aligning with regulatory standards and data governance.

Ideal candidates hold a MS/PhD with 2–3 years of experience and hands-on work with Java, Python, SQL, and AWS, plus exposure to AI frameworks like LangGraph/LangChain.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in statistics, mathematics, computer science or other quantitative disciplines.
• 1+ year experience building production-grade data solutions using modern AI frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, Strands Agents.
• Experience with programming languages including Java, Python, Scala, C, C++, C#, Swift/Objective C, or JavaScript.
• Experience with Big Data Management, Master Data Management tools & SQL.
• AWS experience and data visualization tools (R Shiny, Plotly Dash) are a plus.
• Excellent communication and ability to present complex technical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Statisticians & Data Scientists to enable streamlined data flow for Data Science capabilities across clinical development.
• Develop, construct, test and maintain architectures to support Modeling & Analytics projects in Clinical Development.
• Build data products and services for data transformation, metadata extraction, workload management and error processing.
• Implement automated operational and quality control processes for accurate data and reporting.
• Adhere to best practices for coding, testing and designing reusable code/components.
• Contribute to discovery and adoption of new tools and techniques to improve data pipelines.
• Develop data set processes for data modeling, mining and production.
• Ensure adherence to GCPs, SOPs and regulatory guidelines applicable to clinical development.
