About The Role

We are collaborating with Babylist to identify a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join their dynamic Data team. This role is pivotal in shaping the company's data infrastructure and ensuring the scalability and reliability of data systems that support critical business functions. As a senior individual contributor, you will be at the intersection of platform engineering and AI-native tooling, owning the architecture that underpins data generation, testing, and maintenance. Your work will directly influence decision-making processes across product growth, operations, and AI initiatives. You will collaborate cross-functionally with analysts, data scientists, and product teams to develop robust, scalable, and automated data systems that keep Babylist ahead of its growth trajectory.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess extensive experience in building production-grade AI and LLM systems, including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and tool integrations that are relied upon by real users. A platform-minded approach is essential, with a strong focus on automating repetitive data engineering tasks through system design. Candidates must be deeply proficient in Python and have over 7 years of experience developing scalable systems. Familiarity with ETL principles, data modeling, and tools such as Airflow and dbt is required. Experience managing cloud data resources within AWS, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and EKS, is necessary, along with knowledge of Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouses. The ability to work effectively with analysts and data scientists, translating their needs into reliable infrastructure, is crucial. A passion for AI and a proactive attitude towards integrating AI tools into daily workflows are highly valued.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include designing, building, and scaling data pipelines for ingestion into Snowflake, ensuring high performance and reliability for a rapidly growing e-commerce platform. You will develop and implement agentic systems that automate data engineering tasks such as pipeline generation, testing, and maintenance, transforming manual processes into automated systems. Maintaining and enhancing ML pipelines to operationalize models and facilitate their integration into the data infrastructure will be a key focus. Monitoring data quality and system performance across complex multi-system user journeys is essential to maintaining reliability. Collaboration with analytics engineers on data modeling and shared data asset reliability will be ongoing. Additionally, you will partner with product, analytics, and machine learning teams to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end data solutions that support advanced analytics and AI initiatives.
