Job summary

Lyneer Search Group in New York is seeking a founding Head of Data Engineering to own the data strategy and architecture for a US specialty insurance platform.

You will lead a greenfield data ecosystem with Snowflake, dbt, and Kafka, guiding governance, performance, and cloud partnerships while collaborating with group engineering, finance, actuarial, and leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data engineering, data architecture, or enterprise data platform leadership.
• Hands-on command of Snowflake, dbt, and event streaming such as Kafka.
• Executive presence with senior stakeholders and board-level audiences.
• Knowledge of governance, regulatory, and data privacy considerations.

Responsibilities

• Own strategy and architecture for the data platform across policy, claims, billing, and financial data.
• Lead ingestion, validation, reconciliation, and analytics with modern tooling (Kafka, Snowflake, dbt).
• Oversee governance, lineage, quality, and access control in line with NYDFS Part 500 and privacy obligations.
• Collaborate across group engineering, finance, actuarial, and technology leadership to deliver at scale.

The Head of Data Engineering owns the enterprise data strategy and the design, build, and operation of the entire data ecosystem. Every underwriting decision, pricing model, claim outcome, regulatory filing, and dollar reported to the parent group depends on this platform. The leader sets the data agenda, owns it end to end, and is accountable at the executive level, building with leverage rather than headcount across group data teams, a strategic cloud data partnership, and contracted vendor te

ams.
