Overview

The project aims to standardize the actuarial ecosystem by leveraging a modern data platform to handle large volumes of data across multiple geographies. The solution will be built using AWS, Snowflake, and DBT for data transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of a secure, scalable data platform using AWS, Snowflake, and DBT.
• Develop and oversee the architecture for integrating source systems data into a unified platform with proper governance.
• Assist with the design of the orchestration layer, including workflow engines (e.g., Airflow) and microservices.
• Oversee the end-to-end pipeline for data ingestion, transformation (via DBT), and loading into target systems.
• Manage data flows from Admin systems to Data Platform, and from Data platform to Model, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
• Implement data governance, quality checks, and controls to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Lead efforts to ensure data security, including encryption, access controls, and adherence to regional data laws.
• Modernize the orchestration layer by integrating workflow engines, ensuring seamless automation of data movement across systems.
• Evaluate and recommend the appropriate orchestration technology stack to support the growing needs of the business.
• Optimize system performance for high-volume data processing, ensuring that the platform is both scalable and cost-effective.
• Conduct performance tuning for Snowflake and other cloud-based components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to align technology with business objectives.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, ensuring the adoption of best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Expertise: Extensive experience (5+ years) in cloud-based data architecture with AWS, Snowflake, and DBT.
• Data Engineering: Strong background (10+ years) in designing, implementing and managing data pipelines, including ETL processes and data transformation.
• Governance & Compliance: Expertise in data governance, quality checks, and regulatory compliance.
• Security & Performance: Deep understanding of security practices and performance optimization in cloud data platforms.
• Leadership: Proven experience leading data teams and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-impact data solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Snowflake, DBT.
• Industry Experience: Familiarity with reinsurance or insurance-related data environments.
