Our client is seeking a Data Engineer to lead a high-visibility data modernization initiative focused on rebuilding ETL processes, standardizing reporting, and documenting critical business systems. Core Responsibilities
As the Data Engineer, you will be responsible for driving two business-critical initiatives and ensuring a successful transition away from legacy systems.
Key Functional Tasks & Estimated Time Allocation
- Current-State ETL Analysis & Documentation
- Assess and document existing ETL processes and data flows
- Identify process conflicts, redundancies, and dependencies
- Work with subject matter experts to understand legacy architecture
- Create detailed technical documentation to support future-state planning
- ETL Architecture, Design & Rebuild
- Design and architect a new ETL framework to replace legacy processes
- Establish scalable, secure, and maintainable data pipelines
- Develop implementation plans and technical specifications
- Build and deploy the new ETL environment
- Power BI Reporting Standardization
- Evaluate existing reports and dashboards
- Establish a standardized reporting framework and base report library
- Develop and refine DAX calculations
- Implement row-level security and scalable reporting access
- Integration & Transition Projects
- Support legacy platform transition efforts
- Participate in API and data integration initiatives
- Assist with knowledge transfer and future-state readiness planning
Required Qualifications
The successful Data Engineer will possess:
- Advanced ETL architecture, design, and documentation experience
- Strong experience rebuilding or modernizing data environments
- Advanced Power BI expertise
- Deep knowledge of DAX calculations and report design
- Experience implementing row-level security within Power BI
- Strong technical documentation and process-mapping skills
- Ability to work independently and navigate ambiguity
- Experience evaluating existing systems and recommending improvements
Preferred Qualifications
- API integration experience
- Experience working with legacy system migrations
- Knowledge of Salesforce data structures
- Exposure to financial services, operations, leasing, or data-intensive environments
- Familiarity with enterprise reporting governance
