Job summary

Aiken County Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher to plan and deliver instruction to students with disabilities, using data-driven IEP goals to support growth in academic and social skills. The teacher will collaborate with parents, specialists, and staff to create an inclusive, standards-aligned learning environment.

The position requires a South Carolina teaching certificate in Special Education, strong organizational skills, and compliance with federal and state regulations;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education.
  • Valid South Carolina teaching certificate with appropriate Special Education area for position.
  • Experience writing and leading IEP meetings.
  • Knowledge of Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and due process.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches using evidence-based curriculum through an evidence-based instructional model.
  • Plans and prepares for individual and small group instruction using data and IEP goals to drive groupings.
  • Creates a classroom culture conducive to learning by building rapport with students, parents, service providers, and teachers.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate records and collaborates with parents and staff.
