Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Technical Project Specialist to provide specialized technical support for projects and performance improvement initiatives, guiding next steps and actionable items. You will design dashboards and scorecards under the direction of Clinical Operations BI leadership, and contribute to data acquisition, quality control, and analytics design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in information science, IT, or related field.
• Combined work experience and education as equivalent.
• 1 year experience with design, modification, operation, installation, and maintenance of computer equipment and systems and project management for report development.
• Exceptional analytical and data-driven problem solving skills.
• Understanding of programming concepts with Visual Basic, MS SQL Server Reporting Services, scripting, and Microsoft Access.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service behavior.
• Pref knowledge with SQL/Oracle/Access or SQL/Oracle derivative (Cerner’s CCL) and any procedural or object oriented language in report writing.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Preferred certification in information technology project management.

Responsibilities

• Researches, gathers, organizes and summarizes data for special projects, including dashboards and analytics design.
• Develops procedures for data acquisition, management and quality control throughout project development.
• Prepares progress reports and maintains data systems to support project operations.
• Provides data analysis and ROI calculations and presents results to management.
• Interfaces with users and stakeholders to determine data objectives and requirements.
• Collaborates with faculty, staff and external contacts to complete assignments.
• Develops and maintains technical processes and documentation for project improvements.
• Designs programs and applications for report building according to project specifications.
• Develops test data and routines to test applications (e.g., QlikView) and ensures thorough testing before release.
• Trains users and programmers as required; ensures application security.
