Job summary

Corning is seeking a Process Engineer to support chemical, environmental, and facility systems powering optical fiber manufacturing. You will drive process understanding through data analysis and experiments, lead improvement projects, and collaborate with engineers and operations teams. Off-hours coverage on a rotating basis may be required.

The role is based in Concord, NC with ~8 hours/day, 40 hours/week. Travel is <5%. A BS/MS in Engineering and manufacturing data tools are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools including Excel, Access, SQL, and statistical/visualization packages (e.g., JMP, Power BI, PI ProcessBook, Python).
• Experience with experimental design and data-driven process analysis in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting or leading structured product or process development projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide process engineering support for chemical, environmental control, and facility systems in an optical fiber manufacturing environment.
• Analyze process data, design experiments, and collaborate with subject matter experts to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
• Lead or support cost reduction, process optimization, and new product/process introduction projects.
• Track key process metrics and implement response plans to address performance trends.
• Support startup of new equipment and systems; maintain technical documentation and deliver training to engineering and operations teams.
