Qualifications

• Holds or is eligible for a valid Virginia teaching license.
• Holds an endorsement to provide middle school mathematics instruction.
• Advanced coursework or demonstrated expertise in mathematics instruction/intervention.
• 3+ years of successful mathematics teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level.
• Knowledge of the Virginia Standards of Learning for Mathematics.
• Experience using student achievement data to plan and modify instruction.
• Mathematics intervention, differentiation, assessment, and progress-monitoring practices.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Provides targeted mathematics intervention to individuals and small groups based on identified needs.
• Analyzes multiple data sources to identify students needing intervention and inform placement decisions.
• Develops and implements evidence-based interventions aligned with SOL and district curriculum.
• Monitors progress, adjusting strategies, intensity, frequency, and grouping as needed.
• Maintains records of interventions, progress data, and outcomes.
• Supports schoolwide math intervention system and coordinates supports with staff.
• Collaborates with math teachers, special education, and administrators to identify student needs.
• Works with teachers to strengthen core instruction through data analysis and planning.
