Job summary

AlphaGov is seeking an Economic Development Consultant to help Botetourt County shape a data-informed strategy that connects target industries, workforce, sites, infrastructure, business retention, and measurable implementation priorities.

You will assess local economic conditions, engage county leaders, municipalities, employers, institutions, and community stakeholders, and develop sector-based recommendations.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering economic-development strategy for counties, cities, or similar clients.
• Ability to blend data analysis with stakeholder engagement and actionable plans.
• Willingness to work as a 1099 / project-based collaborator with travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assess local economic conditions, industry mix, workforce, sites, infrastructure.
• Engage county leaders, municipalities, employers, institutions, and stakeholders.
• Develop target sectors, retention, investment-attraction, and workforce recommendations.
• Translate research into a prioritized strategy, roadmap, metrics, and governance.
• Contribute qualifications and past-performance narratives to AlphaGov proposals when permissioned.
