Job summary

GDI is hiring a Battery Materials QA/QC Technician to support incoming materials inspection, data analysis, and process improvement in a battery R&D lab. You will inspect anode materials, analyze quality data, and communicate results to battery engineers and scientists.

The role combines hands-on laboratory work with data analysis, root-cause investigations, and process optimization, ideal for an early-career scientist or technician eager to grow in battery materials and quality engineering.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field related to materials science or engineering.
  • 0–5 years of laboratory testing, quality control, or materials characterization experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to identify differences in data.
  • Comfortable with computer-based inspection and analysis systems.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to document data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar data-analysis tools.
  • Ability to follow procedures while recognizing when results fall outside expected conditions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and collaboration with engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Incoming material inspection and quality control according to procedures and specs.
  • Operate scanning and imaging equipment to inspect electrode materials for defects.
  • Process inspection data and assign numerical quality grades.
  • Identify defects, variations, and indicators of potential quality issues.
  • Maintain traceability of material lots, samples, and results.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and explain quality variations to engineers.
  • Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Contribute to process improvements and yield enhancement.
