Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Systems Modeling Mechanical Engineer to bridge physical infrastructure with virtual simulation, creating high‑fidelity models of data center cooling systems and validating designs before deployment.

The role focuses on CFD simulations, thermal performance, and advanced rack architectures, with a strong emphasis on validation, automation, and cross‑functional collaboration to ensure Day 1 readiness and scalable validation frameworks.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of data center design, construction, or operations with a focus on thermal modeling.
• Deep proficiency in CFD software (e.g., Ansys Fluent, Cadence, or similar).
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or C++ for data analysis and automation.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical test fixtures, sensors, and data acquisition systems (DAQ).
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-fidelity models of data center mechanical systems, including cooling infrastructure and airflow, calibrated to tests and field data.
• Develop CFD simulations to predict thermal performance, pressure drop, and failures across conditions.
• Automate simulation workflows and what-if testing using scripting tools to accelerate design iteration.
• Lead pre-deployment validation of mechanical products and advanced rack architectures.
• Design and execute Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) lab testing to mirror Day 1 conditions.
• Define and own Design Verification Plans and test procedures for prototype hardware.
