Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking Telecommunications Technicians to support large-scale data center construction in the Greater Fort Wayne area. This six-month contract-to-hire role focuses on low voltage and structured cabling, with hands-on work across cable pathways, racks, and fiber systems.

The position requires comfort with ladders and lifts, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. OSHA 10 and Lift/Scissor Lift certs are preferred.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of commercial low voltage, telecommunications, structured cabling, or data center experience.
• Experience pulling and routing low-voltage cable in commercial environments.
• Knowledge and safe use of basic telecom hand tools.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing ladders, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Pull, route, dress, and secure copper and fiber optic cabling throughout commercial data centers.
• Assist with installation of structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber).
• Build, assemble, and install server racks and cabinets.
• Install cable trays, ladder racks, J-hooks, and other cable support systems.
• Perform cable terminations, punch-downs, labeling, and basic testing.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and review installation documentation.
• Read and interpret basic floor plans and layouts.
• Utilize hand tools and telecom installation tools safely, including ladders and lifts.
• Follow OSHA, site, and company safety standards.
• Collaborate with team leads to complete projects on schedule.
