Job summary

Atrium Staffing is seeking a Data Center Technician for our client in San Jose, CA. The role involves hands-on work with data center hardware, servers, network devices, and cabling to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

You will collaborate with network and system administrators, perform firmware upgrades, rack and stack equipment, maintain inventory, and support decommissioning and maintenance tasks. Salary is $42–$45 per hour, with client-provided benefits.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with data center operations, rack-and-stack.
• Proficient in hardware installation, break-fix, and troubleshooting of server components, optics, and network equipment.
• Knowledge of fiber and copper cabling techniques.
• Basic networking concepts.
• Ability to work with network engineers and remote admins.
• Strong communication skills to explain data center activities.

Responsibilities

• Rack, stack, and cable servers or switches to provide remote access for network admins to complete configuration and validation.
• Collaborate with Network Administrators to resolve server issues, including cable replacement or rerouting, optics replacement on ports, and upgraded hardware installation.
• Install replacement parts and manage return shipments of defective equipment to vendors.
• Cable servers and network devices according to approved wiring diagrams and coordinate with network admins to validate connectivity.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot server issues to identify root causes with support from remote network or system admins.
• Perform server firmware upgrades and ensure systems run approved versions.
• Conduct physical inspections and audits of servers, components, and consumables to maintain inventory.
• Support rack and stack activities, server deployment/decommissioning, and hardware break-fix tasks.
• Assist with fiber and copper cabling and basic networking tasks.
