Ideal candidates have 2-3+ years of data center experience and are prepared for shifts beginning 1pm–10pm, transitioning to 12pm–11pm or 1pm–12am. The role entails hands-on hardware work including wiring and rack/stack tasks.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of data center technician experience.
• Must be open to M-F 1pm-10pm initially, then moving to 4x10s (12pm-11pm or 1pm-12am).
• Troubleshooting and isolating issues on servers, not just part swaps.
• Rack/stack and configuration of servers and other data center gear.
• Hands-on wiring/cabling.
• Break/fix and actual troubleshooting, not just remote hands.

Data Center Technician job at TEKsystems. San Jose, CA. A large well-known software company in Santa Clara, CA is hiring multiple Level 2 Data Center Technicians to join the team for a great opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.
• Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.
• Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.
• Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.
• Reach out and assist network admins on issues with servers, including replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, and upgrading parts in servers.
• Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on the device.
• Assist network admins who request specific assistance with servers or switches.
• Assist with Level 1 responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

• Must have 2-3+ years of data center technician experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay range: $33.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment.
