Job summary

Zenlayer Inc. is seeking a data center technician in Akron, OH, to support servers, networks, and DCIM tools. The role involves cabling, device installs, racking, and ensuring secure, compliant operation within the data center environment.

You will maintain asset records, perform on-site support with SLA adherence, and report service availability and capacity. Some travel and shift rotations are required, with full-time benefits offered by Zenlayer.

Qualifications

• Must be action oriented and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of networking, servers and OS; understand TCP/IP.
• Ability to travel 20%+ of time.
• Excellent communications skills.
• Ability to rotate shifts including holidays, off hours, weekends.

Responsibilities

• Strong working knowledge with servers and network hardware/components, copper and fiber infrastructure installations and testing, data center product support applications, software configurations and DCIM tools.
• Complete cabling and installation in server, router, switch according to work orders and MACs in data centers, including labeling, racking, powering and network connection.
• Maintain a safe and secure operation environment and follow data protection protocols.
• Maintain asset management and compliance with audit and inventory checking.
• Provide smart-hands assistance at various sites within SLA.
• Provide status reporting regarding data center service availability, performance, and capacity utilization.
• Coordinate equipment/material receiving, shipping and RMA processing support.
• General cleaning on raised floor, cabinet/rack exterior surfaces, work benches and other areas.
• On-call duties and travel for on-site service or deployment.
