Job summary

UST is seeking a hands-on Data Center Technician in Colorado to support daily data center infrastructure operations and work as the onsite technical resource for coordinating troubleshooting with remote engineering teams.

The role involves rack-and-stack, hardware startup/shutdown, and hands-on support for HPE, Dell, Aruba, and Cisco equipment, with emphasis on safety protocols and ITIL practices.

Qualifications

• Mix of hardware proficiency, basic networking knowledge, and adherence to ITIL protocols.
• Physical: ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on ladders or under raised floors.
• Familiarity with server vendors (HPE, Dell, Aruba, Cisco) and fiber/ethernet cabling types (LC/SC, RJ45).
• Tools: crash carts, cable testers, label makers, and basic hand tools.
• Soft skills: strong communication to relay real‑time status to remote engineers.
• Ability to coordinate troubleshooting with remote engineering teams onsite.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on support for servers, storage, network equipment, racks and related data center infrastructure.
• Rack, stack, install, remove and inspect IT equipment.
• Perform hardware startup and shutdown per established procedures.
• Provide hands-on support for enterprise hardware platforms such as HPE and Dell servers.
• Assist remote infrastructure teams with physical troubleshooting and component identification.
• Use crash carts for local access and troubleshooting.
• Provide Layer 1 / physical connectivity support for network infrastructure.
• Work with Cisco and Aruba networking equipment.
• Install, trace, label and troubleshoot network cabling.
