TEKsystems seeks a Data Center Technician II for an overnight shift in San Jose, CA. The contract position requires independent work and comfort with mission-critical DC environments.
You will diagnose server hardware, perform break/fix, install firmware, configure servers, and support network teams during high-volume periods. Responsibilities include hardware replacement, cabling, and deployment prep, with eligibility for medical, dental, and vision benefits and a 401(k) plan.

This is a NIGHT SHIFT position. Candidates must be comfortable working overnight hours on a regular basis. The ideal candidate can work independently and is confident making technical decisions in a mission-critical data center environment.
Diagnose and troubleshoot a wide variety of server hardware issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
Perform advanced break/fix activities on enterprise server systems.
Order, replace, and return defective hardware components through vendor warranty processes.
Install firmware updates to ensure systems remain current, secure, and optimized.
Configure IP addresses, default credentials, and initial server settings.
Support network administrators by:
Replacing damaged cables and hardware components.
Re-routing network cabling and connections.
Replacing optics and transceivers on servers and switches.
Installing upgraded server components and hardware.
Rack, stack, cable, and prepare servers and network equipment for deployment and remote configuration.
Provide technical support to Data Center and Lab teams as needed.
Assist with installation, deployment, and infrastructure projects when required.
Support Level 1 operations and team responsibilities during high-volume periods.
Strong Data Center Operations experience with a focus on troubleshooting and break/fix support.
Ability to identify, isolate, and resolve server hardware issues independently.
Experience working with enterprise servers, network equipment, and data center infrastructure.
Knowledge of firmware upgrades, hardware replacement procedures, and basic server configuration.
Familiarity with rack and stack activities, cabling standards, and physical infrastructure deployment.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently during overnight shifts.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to supporting engineering and operations teams.
This is a Contract position based out of San Jose, CA.
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $37.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
