Job summary

TEKsystems is hiring a Data Center Cable Technician for a contract-to-hire role based in Kennewick, WA. You will install, configure, and maintain data center hardware, manage structured cabling, and ensure fiber and copper cabling meets standards.

You will troubleshoot equipment, coordinate with network and systems engineers, and oversee external infrastructure installations. 6 months to 2+ years IT work preferred; high school diploma required; clean driving record and drug screen may apply.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 2+ years of IT-related experience.
• Knowledge of structured cabling standards and fiber optic tech.
• Low voltage experience is a plus but not required.
• Prefer cabling experience (coax, fiber, cat5, cat6, punch downs).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willing to submit to driving record check, BG and drug screen.

A large Data Center in the Boardman/Hermiston, OR area is hiring a Data Center Cable Technician to join the team for a great long term opportunity!

Job Duties:

• Install, configure, and maintain data center hardware, including servers, racks, network equipment, and power distribution units (PDUs).

• Manage cable infrastructure, including structured cabling and fiber optic systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

• Conduct equipment troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs to minimize downtime and optimize performance.

• Collaborate with network and system engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware with the data center environment.

• Perform routine inspections to verify environmental and equipment health, including cooling systems and backup power solutions.

• Plan and oversee the installation of external infrastructure such as conduits, cables, poles, and related facilities.

• Ensure proper routing and termination of fiber optic and copper cables for connection between buildings or to external network providers.

• Inspect and maintain outside plant infrastructure to mitigate risks of damage and ensure long-term reliability.

• Qualifications:

• 6 months to 2+ years of prior IT related experience with previous Data Center/Cabling exp being a plus but not required.

Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
