Job summary

Arvato is a leading global 3PL provider supporting data center services and logistics. The Data Center Technician installs and maintains cabling for servers and networks, ensuring seamless operations and client satisfaction.

The role emphasizes on-site work, safety compliance, and professional communication. Valid driver's license and travel willingness are required; prior data center or logistics experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Willingness to travel for business needs.
  • Basic experience with hand and power tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and email.
  • Prior experience in a data center, logistics or construction environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Arrive at clients’ sites on time, with equipment, uniform, procedures, documentation, and PPE.
  • Cable server racks by patching and dressing fibre and copper cables.
  • Provide professional customer service to clients and colleagues.
  • Follow client procedures including health and safety and security.
  • Communicate with managers, planners, team leaders and supervisors about progress.
  • Complete daily checklists and reports on activities and tasks.

Job Description

This role supports Arvato’s newest data center services, delivering critical solutions such as high-security transport, white-glove delivery, and technical support. Our clients include hyperscale data center operators, high-tech freight forwarders, co-location providers, and Software as a Service (SaaS) companies.

The Data Center Technician assumes a critical role in the installation and upkeep of cabling to guarantee seamless operations of hardware networks, including equipment and server/network rack decommissioning.

Your Tasks
  • Arrive at clients’ sites on time, with all required equipment, uniform, procedures, documentation, and PPE.
  • Cable server racks by patching and dressing fibre and copper cables (in certain regions, and training will be provided).
  • Provide industry-leading customer service levels by always acting professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Follow clients’ procedures and requirements, including health and safety, and security.
  • Communicate with colleagues, including managers, planners, team leaders and supervisors, in a consistent, timely, and efficient manner. Reports include arrival times, delays, safety concerns, and completion times.
  • Complete daily checklists and providing reports on daily activities or tasks, including other general administration tasks.
Qualifications
  • Valid driving license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to travel for business needs.
  • Basic experience with hand and power tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and email.
  • Prior experience in a data center, logistics or construction environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment preferred.
  • Familiarity with common networking terms, cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies preferred.
  • Prior experience with medium to large, complex project scopes and ambiguous details within work environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with common tools related to network troubleshooting, including VFLs, OTDR and power meters preferred.
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers, Switches and other network gear preferred.
