Our Infrastructure Services

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating AWS’s global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that enable our customers’ access to innovation. We tackle challenging problems involving complex supply chains and are seeking talented individuals to join us.

Team and Culture

You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and others. Collaboration across AWS helps us uphold safety and security standards while providing extensive capacity at minimal cost. Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues, overseeing operations of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, and building monitoring systems.
  2. Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting within SLAs.
  3. Provide training and guidance to Technicians and work with Facility Managers to set team culture.
  4. Create and implement standard practices for operational teams and support vendors.
  5. Assist in the build-out of new facilities and projects to improve efficiency.
  6. Work outside of normal hours for routine maintenance and emergency responses.
  7. Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  8. Coordinate with IT and business leaders to manage projects, capacity, safety, performance, and reliability.
  9. Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff.
  10. Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare operational reports.
  11. Utilize basic administrative tools like Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for daily tasks.
Physical Requirements

Willingness and ability to work in conditions such as lifting up to 39 pounds, working on ladders, and in environments requiring ear protection, with reasonable accommodations.

A Day in the Life

This role involves hands-on troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment critical to data center uptime, including generators, switchgear, UPS, chillers, cooling towers, water systems, and fire safety systems. The CE leads, trains, and supports technicians, manages projects from start to finish, and collaborates with external teams across local and global settings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical training or degree in electrical or mechanical fields.
  • At least 3 years of electrical or mechanical experience.
  • Over 3 years of experience in data center or mission-critical facilities.
  • 4+ years of Data Center Engineering experience.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience leading a team.
