Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Data Center and Service Desk professional to provide first-level support for faculty, staff, students and clinicians in a 24/7 environment. You will handle routine problems, monitor systems, and follow documented procedures to resolve issues within the Enterprise Data Centers.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and strong customer service and communication skills; after-hours maintenance and on-call rotations are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of relevant experience required
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Previous service desk and/or Data Center operations experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Resolves routine technical problems for issues received via Service Desk intake mechanisms, such as phone calls, service tickets, email, and chat
• Monitors Primary and Second Data Center operations, as well as peripheral equipment for hardware or processing issues
• Protects against unauthorized access to the Data Centers, equipment, and materials
• Participates in after-hours maintenance
• Performs supplemental tasks, such as cleaning of compute equipment
• Follows operational policies and procedures and provides input on potential modifications
• Keeps abreast of current IT technologies through continuing education and on the job training
• Other duties as assigned
